On April 21st at the Telus World Ski and Snowboard Festival, The Blake Jorgenson Gallery hosted the Asymbol exhibit grand opening, the new snowsports art project founded by Travis Rice and Mike Parillo. With works by Jamie Lynn, Tim Zimmerman, Danny Zapalac, Parillo and other prominent artists of the snowsports community, the show gave festival goers an opportunity to view some of the incredible artwork coming out of the action sports world. Located at Whistler’s Blake Jorgenson Gallery, the Asymbol opening was arguably the most popular party the gallery has ever seen with art fans and professional athletes packing the place, even spilling into the lobby of the Westin Resort. Based out of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Asymbol Gallery “exists to pay tribute to the creative workhorses who have inspired us by making their imagery available to the world. We specialize in iconic, unforgettable images from the snow, surf, and skate worlds that speak to our hearts, open windows into a deeper experience, dare us to dream, and keep us coming back for more. Our mission is to connect creators with appreciators, to tell the stories behind the images on display, and to make it possible for anyone to attain a high-quality, large-format, limited-edition print of those pieces that move you most.”

Blake Jorgenson Gallery Book Launch Feb 2010

Closing out the marathon of Olympic party’s in the Gallery was the launch of my first photo book! 120 pages of my favorite images from the last ten years. Most of the photos are from Whistler but also include the many exotic adventures over the years to places like Nepal, China, S. America, Alaska, Africa, Japan, Turkey, Transylvania, and all over British Columbia. Long time friend and writer Shelley Arnush put together some amazing opening text. Thanks so much to everybody over the years!The book can be purchased online here on this site, at Armchair books in Whistler, and in the Westin hotel gallery.

Rossignol Seven Artistic Sins Launch Whistler 2009

The unveiling of ROSSIGNOL’S 2009 / 2010 SAS collection was kicked off in Whistler on Jan 17th at Blake Jorgenson’s Gallery. The event was attended by a star studded cast of athletes, artists, press and of course, the uber cool whis core community. They came from far and wide to see, for the first time, the newest collection created for the Seven Artistic Sins project. With artists like Steve Caballero, Andy Howell, Caia Koopman, Mr. Jago, Andrew Pommier, Squindo & Will Barras bringing their insane sin based art to the table coupled with 7 of Rossignol’s most technologically advanced twin tips, the results were simply astounding.The SAS gallery will be on display @ Jorgenson’s gallery until the middle of February, if you happen to be in Whistler, go check it out. The next stop on the SAS tour was Winter X games in Aspen, be sure to scroll all the way to the bottom of this message to scope out the images from WXG, the Jeeps are insane. The SAS collection was on display in, on and around the Jeep booth, which for the record, looked more like a Rossignol SAS booth and was perfectly located right at the base of the WXG superpipe. The crew at Jeep designed their booth around the SAS collection and they even went so far as to fully wrap 2 Rossi Wranglers, which could be the coolest vehicle wraps anyone has ever seen. The response was so overwhelming Jeep is making plans to take the booth and the SAS collection on tour. See you on the slopes!
