Whistler Outdoor Photography Workshops – Fall Enrollment

May October 1st-3rd, 2011
Whistler, BC, Canada
Instructors: Blake Jorgenson and guests TBD
Cost: $600

The first WOPW in May was a huge success and will continue this Fall with a smaller 3-day course with Blake and other guest instructors. This course will be an extension of last year’s Fall courses format but with the increased field experience that occurred in the Spring workshops. Additional industry experts such as art directors and photo editors will also be invited to round off knowledge into the industry. This workshop is for any photo enthusiast who is particularity interested in shooting outdoor and action photography. Each day will be comprised of a combination of on location outdoor shoots that will include shooting pro mountain biking and landscape and lifestyle as well as classroom sessions, and Apres sessions at the local spots to unwind and keep the conversation rolling. All the while you will be working on your own presentation to be showcased on the last day. Whistler is the perfect location to experience the unpredictably of the elements, action from some of the world’s best mountain sport athletes, and stunning beauty of the Coastal mountains. An optional evening lecture series will also be a component of the experience with lots of opportunity to enjoy Whistler dining and nightlife experiences should you desire. Participants will meet at one of the Westin’s conference rooms for introductions, a light breakfast, and the first in-class segment to gear up for the afternoon shoot. Smaller groups will be determined to allow for more one on one time with instructors who will be illustrating their own techniques and approaches. Light breakfasts, lunches and an Apres drink and snack are included each day. Accommodations and lift tickets are available at discounted rates from Whistler Blackcomb and The Westin Hotel, or we can suggest a range of other accommodations. Lift tickets are only required on on-mountain shoot days.

At this time we are accepting reservations that can be confirmed with a $300 deposit. After enrollment you will receive a Welcome Package that includes the confirmed instructors, an itinerary and curriculum, and details about accommodations.

All participants should love to be active and enjoy the outdoors, and be comfortable to hike 10-20 minutes to and from locations. A basic understanding of photography and the use of your own digital-SLR camera are required. You are asked to bring your own photo equipment and computer to process and email photos. Applicable software such as Adobe Light Room or Adobe Photoshop should be installed on your computer or a free trial can be downloaded for use in the workshops. More information will be provided in the Welcome Packages. Check out Blake’s blog for highlights from the past workshops.
